Walk into any one of the many museums Munich has to offer and be amazed.
Munich has a rich cultural heritage catering to a broad range of interests.
You will be blown away by the arts and culture scene in Munich. I always wonder if they do enough to reach out to audiences, because I had never heard of the massive treasure trove of galleries, exhibits and foundations that dedicate themselves to preserving and conserving our cultural heritage. That is probably due to my own ignorance, but I was pleasantly surprised and still continue to be every time I cross one more off my list.
Here are a few to keep you and your family entertained:
- Alte, Neue & Moderne Pinakothek + Museum Brandhorst
Tip: Visit them all, they will surprise you.
- Kunsthalle München
- Tip: There are three exhibitions annually and are all amazing.
- Deutsches Museum
Tip: This museum is enormous. Get the annual pass. One visit is not enough.
Tip: This contemporary museum has stunning collections.
- Haus der Kunst
Tip: Also housing contemporary art, this building is worth visiting just for its history and links to Nazi Germany.
- Munich Documentation Centre for the History of National Socialism
Tip: Get the audio guide & start on the top floor
- BMW Welt (free to visit)
BMW Museum (across the street from BMW Welt)
BMW Factory Tour (group tours available in English)
Tip: Book factory tours in advance.
I have been to the above museums and can recommend them all. What are some of your favorites?
