I´m going off on a tangent here, but you´ll understand why in a minute. I´ve had issues with my thyroid before, so it´s essential I consume iodine. And seaweed is known to have high levels of iodine. Lack of iodine leads to fatigue & grumpiness, at least that´s what I tell my husband. So he makes sure to take me out on a regular basis to get my dose of Japanese cuisine… so gullible!

Kaito
Take a journey through Japan at this truly authentic restaurant. Kaito delivers a traditional experience with great food and service. Try their Misowam soup, Sushi/Sashimi Platter and Matcha ice-cream, just to name a few. If you want, pair your meal with Sake. They have a a lot to choose from.

Yuki Hana
Yuki Hana is located in Maxvorstadt. They have some amazing Ramen for those cold wintry nights and the sushi… yum! They even have eel, which I love! Affordable lunch specials are offered, which is best enjoyed in their outdoor seating area. Don’t let the large construction work across the street turn you off. No website, but follow them on Facebook.

Fuji Sushi & Nudel
Very close to Rotkreuzplatz, this small sushi bar offers ramen, bento boxes, udon and many rice dishes. The sushi is superb! It’s also pretty inexpensive!!! Don’t miss out.

Sushi Sano
This tiny narrow restaurant is the best place for a quick and delicious meal. No frills, just a small table to sip your soup, eat your rice dish or sushi. Close to Isartor, this place is also ideal for picking up a few appetizers on your way to the Isar.

Sushibar
Upscale and modern, it is also more expensive; however, the quality of the food, the attentive service and the ambiance makes it worthwhile. The one at Münchner Freiheit is a great place for a date or a meet-up with a small group of friends.

Takumi
My Japanese neighbor took me to this restaurant in Maxvorstadt and what an experience it was! It was lunchtime and there was already a long queue at the door. No reservations! Takumi is a first come, first serve type of place. At least for lunch time. We were lucky to get seated! Once all the tables were filled, the rest were turned away or asked to wait. They specialize in Ramen, but have rice dishes and delicious Gyoza’s. There is much to choose from, so check out the MENU before going.
